Samson
PETPORT

Samson came to my home in 1995, when he was aged around 5 years old, sporting a badly swollen eye which we suspect had been inflicted by Henry. They never become friends! I later discovered that Samson had originally been born a farm cat and had a number of homes before choosing to live with me. An extremely handsome and vocal mackerel tabby, he quickly become my favourite model and was always happy to pose for photos. In 2006, at the grand age of 15, he achieved a bronze medal and silver bowl award in a ‘Worlds Cutest Pet’ Competition and this catapulted him to local stardom. The following year, he starred as ‘Sailor Sam’ in my first children’s picture book. Samson died on 27th July 2008 following a short battle against cancer of the intestine. His death made front page news in South Manchester.

Henry
PETPORT
Henry

Henry came to me in 1995, as his owner worked away from home very often and couldn't take care of him properly. At first, he was vicious to say the least! We slowly established a three stroke rule before he would attack us, but as the years have passed, he has become quite a lap cat. He likes to be loved - but on his terms! He is still very unpredictable. Henry considers himself to be king of the household, although he has never really achieved that status, being both a bully and a coward. He enjoys watching television, especially nature and gardening programmes.

Jake
PETPORT

This portrait was commissioned by a professor I worked with when at the University as a birthday present for his wife. He was so thrilled with it that he paid me double what I had requested. Money aside, it is always a great honour and pleasure that my paintings can mean so much to someone.

Shona

Shona

Shona is my sister's dog, who has quickly grown from a tiny puppy into a sturdy and heavy dog with the typical square shape of a Scottie. It is always a challenge to paint an entirely black animal.
